There are opportunities with NAFE US both domestically and abroad. We offer both long and short term commitments. Our desire is to support our volunteers, giving them have the best experience possible. We are willing to customize service experiences to meet the needs of each volunteer.

We have kept our volunteer fees minimal, opening up the opportunity to serve to anyone willing to give their time. Volunteers serving abroad can commit to as short as a few days and up to six months.
Opportunities in Peru: Volunteering with NAFE-US is a rewarding experience and gives you a sense of purpose while exploring the culture and beauty of Peru. It is important that volunteers take their commitment seriously and come prepared to teach, serve and love the children while there. If you are volunteering more than a week, taking time to travel is natural. Just be sure to communicate your plans with the project/volunteer coordinator so they can plan to compensate for your absence.
How do I become a volunteer?
- Pay a $150 one-time volunteer fee, non-refundable, which you can pay for here.
- Choose and book the dates you plan on volunteering.
- Add the number of volunteers in your group.
Please note, each volunteer must pay a $150 one-time fee. Volunteer fees are nonrefundable. If you need to cancel a trip, you can use the funds at any time in the future or transfer them to another volunteer. Please remember 100% of the fees from volunteers goes directly to the children.

Our Voluntours have been created for those who are looking for volunteer opportunities while travelling abroad and would like assistance in making those plans. Plus, you can know that your volunteer fees from the tours go directly to the children you have worked with, 100%.
We have two fantastic tours we offer:
Our Peru Voluntour is a 12-day tour which includes time in the Cusco area, including Machu Picchu, exploring a variety a cultural sites and getting to experience some unique places “off the tourist map.”
You will volunteer at our after-school program in Amaru, while experiencing life in the highlands with a Peruvian family. After Cusco, you will go north to the beach where our other project, Mis Manos Montessori, is located. There you will interact with the children for four days.
The trip will conclude with two days enjoying the art, parks, culture and gastronomy of Lima.

The Inca Trail Voluntour is a nine day tour with four days spent hiking the Inca trail. You will learn about Incan culture and spiritual beliefs, while hiking one of the most beautiful treks in the world.
Participants will spend two days working with the children at our after-school program in the mountains, living with the Quechuan family and immersing themselves in the culture and traditions.
Our guide will also show you around our favorite parts of Cusco before heading back to LIma, where you will enjoy the arts, parks, culture and gastronomy of the city.

We will have set group dates starting in 2018. You are welcome to create a group of your own at any time and contact us to set up the Voluntour for you.

Slots for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu fill up fast, especially for groups, so try and book at least six months in advance. - Pay $300 deposit, per person, non-refundable
Please note the deposit is non-refundable as it is used to secure flights to Cusco and train tickets for Machu Picchu, which are not refundable to NAFE US once purchased.
Volunteer as a Project Coordinator
A Volunteer Coordinator or Project Coordinator volunteers for three to six months. Each position oversees the volunteers who are arriving and departing and activities of the project they are working with. In order to be successful an applicant needs be able to lead a large group in activities, be enthusiastic and energetic, love children and be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to do whatever is needed. Mostly this entails teaching and playing with the children.
This position should be viewed as volunteer with a stipend. It is full-time; either position may require fluency in both Spanish and English. We require that you take these positions very seriously. If you are still at university, we encourage you to speak with your university and inquire about receiving internship credit(s) for your time in one of these positions.
